Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, as the water temp' of late seems well down on what it should be, It's at best warm.

Pressure is ok - 1.5 bar, and heating runs fine..

many thanks.

Nat

Without some technical measurements I cannot say what your problem is likely to be.

It may just be that with the water coming in at only a few degrees above freezing the boiler output temperature is likely to be lower that you are accustomed to.

What happens if you reduce the flow rate?

Tony

thanks for the reply Tony,

Yes it has been really cold, I haven't attempted to change the flow rate, I've no idea how, I'll google it and see..

Many thanks,

Nat

The flow rate is reduced by turning the hot tap less fully on !

question have u got keston open therm room compensater?
on front of boiler does green light come on ,when hot tap turned on.
have u raised the hot water tempreture on left side display panel to 60c,
does the heating pipes warm when hot water tap on?
u need heating off, to cool before u can check ^above.

there is a installer info on panel to check water flow rate
press installer button,to 4 shows actuel hot water tempreture
press installer button to 8,hot water flow rate, divide this by 6
max is about 14.5 lites min ,35 c rise

you know your stuff Kestonman

Hi and thanks so much for the help..

No - I don't think I do have open therm room compensater!

Yes - green light does come on when hot tap is on.

No - the heating pipes are not warming up when water demand is made.

I pressed installer button to 4 it read 30.

ditto 8, and it read 004.

You asked.. "have u raised the hot water tempreture on left side display panel to 60c" I'm not sure, do you mean where it says DHW?

Nat

ditto 8, and it read 004.

Strange, that would mean you don't have enough flow to bring the boiler on but you say the DHW light is defiantly on?

Hit the + key on the right

Hello again, OK I've done that, it's now up to 60..

Green Light def' coming on. Just ran the water for 2.5/3 mins and it was just about warm.

I'm worried now, it's only 2 years old this boiler..

Regards.
Nat

Not me, but some would say that to get two years out of a Keston is good going.

I saw a three year old C55 which was on a BG contract.

BG visited it each day from Monday to Thursday and could still not get it going so the landlord had a Vaillant fitted on the Friday!

Tony

hit the + key and set it on maximum.

Allow your radiators to get cold.

Run the hot tap for a few minutes, does the pipes going to the radiator closest to the boiler get warm?

also as suggested previously does changing the flow rate (turning the tap down so less water comes out) make the water hotter?

Being 2 years Keston would have a look under warranty.

as for BG... I have spoken to a few in my time and I wonder if half of them (not all) are properly registered....

Hello again,

Ok did that (+ key and set it on maximum), seems to be hotter now. However when heating is off, the water is still pretty much just about tepid.

No - the pipe (nearest rad to the boiler) doesn't seem to be heating up.

No - flow rate adjust doen't make any diff' either.

A great many thanks for your help.

Nat

seems very strange...

with the hot water tap fully on could you please keep pressing the installer button and tell me what following numbers read:

4 - Hot water temp
5 - Boiler Pressure
8 - Flow rate

If these readings come out fine then I'm at a loss I can only put it to 1 of 2 things.

1. debris within the plate heat ex but usually would throw up an overheat lockout code

2. Issue with the diverter valve (but if your telling me the pipe going to the first rad isn't getting warm then it cant be...)

We have never had the hot water flow rate quoted to us in litres per minute.

The boiler can only heat about 10 litres per minute to hot hand temp at a hot tap.

While running the tap at max see what the gas meter is doing. If a cu ft meter measure the secs to do a full rev of the test dial ( thats wthout any other gas appliances in use ).

If a metric meter measure the two indexs two min apart to ALL the places of decimals.

there has been several problems with componants on this boiler since its introduction e.g faulty press guages, duff suppressors, ignition boards, sticky dv's

get on to keston and explain the situation that you have some of there staff can be very helpful they maybe able to help you out
