key in the lock on the inside and now cant open from outside

Hi
left the key in the lock on the inside of the door to my flat and now can't open the lock from the outside, as the key wont enter the lock fully from the outside. Is there any way I can solve this without calling a lock smith?

Turn the key on the inside to a TRUE vertical and insert your spare key in the outside and give it a gentle tap with a small light hammer. The key should come out. Sounds like the barrel will.need replacing though - only a fiver or so.

Scrape the tip of the key on the floor or wall to wear it down a bit,,,bingo
