Hi

I have a join in a kitchen counter top that has become swollen with water ingress.
It's beside the sink. See photos.
Ideas for sealing it up without replacement.
One surface now rises 6mm above the other
Thanks

It's not going to be replaced.
Ideas for sealing?

As above - the only possible solution.

Its too late for sealing, excessive moisture is already inside the particle board.
Movement will continue until both legs of laminate are disturbed.

Its possible, given the poor installation that the sink cut-out has not been sealed either, and may also begin to swell?

Prior to installation, we seal all edges and cut-outs in laminate work tops.

If it's not going to be replaced, then apply a thin bead of silicon sealat along the exposed edge; but it's donald ducked, and will need rplacing at some time.

You could apply a few layers of fibreglass over the joint, overhanging each side by say an inch, to encapsulate it, will look hideous but I expect it would bond OK.
