Kitchen Ext in Epsom - Architect&Builder to recommend?

Hi,

We are planning to build a kitchen extension in our house in Epsom and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good and not too expensive architect and a builder in this area.

The size of the extension will be 7x3m which I think will cost around £25k.

Also anyone good tips on what to do / to be aware of / definitely to avoid?

Any advise will be much appreciated.

be aware of some one who can start straight away ask to see previous work and references . do not part with money up front agree a stage payment plan
any company worth its salt should have the finances to start the project then draw down stages. avoid mobile phone only contacts. make sure you know where they trade from. do not agree to have the project done on a day rate. certain areas may require this but 99.9% is estimatable and agree if day rate is needed, you know what it is in advance. most builders are fine but ask around the pub, golf club etc for people who have already engaged a builder /architect previously. most architects know builders they can rely on we get a lot of work from architects.
