Hi All, I have a question.
Should I build a steel frame and timer walls or should I build in blocks. You should know that there is going to be a heavy single pitched roof on top! I would like minimal effort at ground level.
Your thoughts! Cheers

What makes you think a timber or steel frame will be less effort than a conventional masonry jobbie.

All will need to sit on a similar foundation.

Whats the odd B between friends! Thank you for your thoughts. TIMBER I can do myself, blocks are not me.

What extra maintenance would timber need?

Cheers

Timber structures have external maintenance issues as well as being hollow.

Even when clad with brick or tile? :P

A can't see why the OP would consider a steel frame though for an extension, what would be the point? Why not just a timber frame?

Obviously if you can't lay bricks and don't want to learn and don't want to pay anybody, then it will have to be a timber frame. You've sill got to dig out the foundations and lay the substructure walls, unless you do some elaborate concrete beams
