Kitchen hob extractor (stop leaking air Question)

Hello all, Building a new kitchen at the moment. had a new hole drill for the extractor fan.

When it comes to insulation, making sure no air can be escaped through any gaps and the extractor fan itself

What is the best approach round this?

Are there any Ducking pipe and fan system that only works one way ie. "exit" But not allowing the other way?

Consider sealing the trunking with expanding foam, and the finishing off by pointing with a sand and cement mix.
A louvre shutter will normally stop any backdraught but kosher backdraught shutters are available.

Kitchen extractor fans come with anti back-draft flaps already fitted.

choose a unit with anti back draft. and install a tube. then once building control have been you can stuff the tube with insulation on the basis you'll probably never use the extractor if you also have windows and door you can open.

i find it rather annoying to install an extractor in a kitchen with massive doors and windows. i think i used the one in my previous kitchen less than half a dozen times in 15 years.

opening a window works so much better

Can't always open a window , especially in winter when ventilation is so important to avoid condensation..
