i got a new kitchen in a few years ago and every thing is all right except one press thats beside the sink that holds the plates cups saucers etc. the problem is the doors are ok they are made out of solid wood but the inside is a different wood and covered in veneer i think thats what it is called ,the white smooth stuff last month i noticed a damp smell from the inside and scrubbed the whole of the inside and now the smell is back again ,would it be some thing to do with the wood as i moved the press to see if there was any leaks from pipes as its beside the sink but every thing is ok , has any one on here had this problem or know of it

did you look under the worktop to see if it was wet

2 possible causes the worktop has got wet[is still wet]and has blown look feel for unevenness or extra thickness top and bottom same with the carcase

if either is the cause they will need replacing

if your plinths [foot kick boards]are removable have a look underneath
