I have just had a builder come to my house to quote & install a kitchen.

Upon inspection, he advised he could not install the kitchen as the circuits were radials and this was no longer legal in kitchens...

Have not heard of this one before, are there new regs in place?

nothing wrong with radials as long as they are correctly designed for the application.

The man is a fool, and fools + electricity = danger.

Find another kitchen fitter, and make sure that they are "Part P registered"

hi xbond, i must agree that radials are a good way of suppling a kitchen in fact some of my customers request radials but as a norm 4mm twin & earth is used rather than 2.5mm t&e.
my advice (get someone else to do it)

good luck :D

Another thought - maybe he's not a fool, maybe he's a makework rogue.

Did he offer to do some rewiring in order to bring it up to date?

Report him to TSO?
