Hi,
I have some off the shelf kitchen wall cupboards we bought. There were no screws etc with it. So couple of questions please:-

1)
What would be the best size screws and plugs to fix to internal block/brick walls?

2)
Can a "Drill Bit, Plugs, Screws" kit be bought from a DIY shop rather than the individual items?

THANKYOU.

Picture of back of cupboards would be helpful.

Need to know if it's blockwork or brickwork [thermalite? blocks need an entirely different plug to hold well].

Assuming that you are going into brick or heavy block masonry then you'll need something like a 7mm TCT masonry bit, brown (7mm) plugs and something like #10 x 3in (5.0 x 75mm) screws. Don't buy kits - the plugs and screws included are often of inferior quality as well as being too short. If you have soft blockwork such as Thermalite blocks then you should consider a smaller diameter drill bit, 6.5mm or even 6mm so that the brown plugs will bite properly. Very soft blockwork might require a different type of plug, such as these high performance ones in which case a different size of drill (to suit) may be needed. Most kitchen wall units these days utilise a claw hanger and will need concealed hanging brackets like these:

to be attached to the wall. These should have been supplied, but if not they can be bought in many places, e.g. Screwfix. . If the wall is not particularly flat (or if the masonrty is poor or you are going onto a stud wall) it may be better to substitute this type of hanging rail instead:

and notch out the rear edges of the inner cabinets in a run to suit. The rails can be cut with a junior or full-size hacksaw

In order to keep everything nice and level you'll also need a spirit level - the longer the better although a 2ft level tempiorarily taped (masking tape) onto a straight 4ft piece of 3 x 2in CLS will work quite well
