Hi,
(My mother (pensioner) is moving into a bungalow which I needs quite a bit of work on it including a new cheap budget kitchen.)
On one of the walls in the kitchen is a plasterboard stud wall, there will be a corner wall unit and another wall unit fixed to this wall.
Have stripped out the old kitchen units and they were fixed to the wall with Hollow Wall Anchor like these..

Read a few posts and some say ok to use but other say not worth the risk.
The kitchen walls are being skimmed before I start.
So reading other posts I have a few options...
1) I can work out exactly where the wall unit will go and then cut out the plaster board and put a noggin along the wall between the studs and then get the plasters to cover and skim.
I then fix the wall unit to the batten
What size wood should this noggin be, same as stud wall ?
Width: 144mm (5 3/4'') by Thickness: 38mm (1 1/2'')

What fixing should I use to attach the batten to the stud wall ?
thanks.
