We have a sloping wood slat ceiling which we wish to overlay with uPVC slat cladding to improve insulation and save on painting. Is it permissable to do this with regard to fire safety and building regs?
Any idea of cost including labour for ceiling size 15 ft x 11 ft approx divided into 2 parts by wood beam?

I've removed wood then boarded and skimmed.
You could use insulated plasterboard.
I've never seen uPVC in a kitchen.
You could phone your current insurance company and ask.
I don't think building regs are relevant unless you are under building control.
You can do what you want.

Not sure I've helped though

Have read up and uPVC is ok in a kitchen but not directly over hob area due to melt risk.Yes insulated plasterboard is an option but our ceiling does occasionally leak when heavy rain hence the thought of pvc.Ive tried to find the leak source but can only reduce leak without replacing complete tiled sloping kitchen roof

I think you need to sort roof out.
Water getting trapped behind is only going to cause more problems.
Hire some scaffolding.
Watch a few videos
Get and sort the roof out as a spring DIY project not an option?

Had a real go at this leak last year looks like it is sourced above the bedroom window a long way above kitchen and have partially success but storm Claudia still won and left a small but stubborn leak!it's source is above the front fascia board somewhere you're right I'll have another go at this next year when it stops raining!Any idea of cost of replacing wood slats with insulated board?

Get a board lifter and do yourself maybe?
People buy off Amazon or second hand.
Chat here pops up regarding.

Boards plus labour.
Then skim.
Days work to skim so maybe £300 tops
