We are moving forward with our kitchen extension so are starting to look for ideas on the new kitchen.

Does anyone have ideas on worktops. We will have a straight run against a wall which will have the hob located on it and a reasonably large island type worktop (although it will sit against the wall at one end) which will have the sink located on it.

Was thinking of Corian as a worktop surface but unsure if this is deadly expensive? Does anyone have any other ideas?

After much research, we went with a relatively new material - Diresco (Polished) - it's basically silestone without the antibacterial agent. We've just had it installed last Thursday so I can't give an accurate opinion. However, it is durable and looks lovely and much cheaper than corian. But as always, look into it before you buy.

EARTHSTONE.

Looks like stone but has a chipboard centre. Can be sawn, sanded, routed etc and you CANNOT see any joints. You can also buy rounded corners if needed. So long as the person fitting has a good knowledge of tools, particularly a router you will be more than pleased with the result.
