knocking noise on start up

Hi just got my nissan tino last week its a 2002 model ,as days go by you start to notice things about the car you didnt notice when i first got it... hope this is normal just noticed when you start the car first thing in the morning you can hear a very very slight knocking noise just for a 5- 10 sec period then it goes away is this normal, its a 1.8 twin cam very slight knocking i may say any help would be great thx

Could be something simple like the hydraulic tappets.
Is it due an oil change? Make sure you do it with the right grade of oil too
 
yeah, wont hurt to do an oil change with a good quality oil of the correct grade,if the tapping dissapears after a few seconds its quite normal
 
Knocking sounds are common, very common for example on the first versions of the vauxhall ecotec engines,

If you were to flick the key instead of starting maybe twice , then start it , do you still get the sound? if not the oil is thrown up stopping the knocking from being heard

If your that worried you can fit a switch to the ignition circuit to kill the spark and let the engine turn for few seconds then turn on the switch to fire up.
