Hi,

How can I get rid of stains caused by untreated knots on a door frame fitted three years ago? Will I have to sand back to the knots and treat or will it be OK just to re-gloss?

Re glossing will be a temporary repair, it will eventually come through again

Only cure is to strip back to bare wood and treat any knots....Not a nice job....

Give them a coat of white knotting..or aluminium wood primer then undercoat asnd gloss as normal

(white knotting is sometimes called 'styptic' knotting' and available from most good trade places)
