I have a La Torre bath mixer tap which has started to drip. I'm thinking the washer/cartridge needs replacing. So I want to take the tap apart to see whats what.

I have removed the lever handle, and the small grub screw behind then lifted off the top of the tap. My question is what to do next?

I can see a brass ring nut at least 30mm dia, but it looks like there is no clearance between the nut and the tap housing to get a socket nut over it (even if I had one that wide!). There is a white plastic spigot that protrudes up through the middle of the brass nut with a brass screw in the top. I have removed the screw but didn't seem to have any effect and a don't want to force it.

I would be grateful for any thoughts.
