You’re kidding. Like Germany?, which also funds children’s cancer hospices? Low tax trumps pretty much every thing in our countryOne solution to the problem of corruption in political party funding would be to ban private donations to political parties.
The state should fund political parties, MPs are already funded by the state.
If these parties were depending on the people for financing instead of foreigners with lots of cash, then for once, they might act in the interest of the people.
The money saved by getting rid of foreign and domestic interference in elections by private interests , could be worth the extra costs. You’re kidding. Like Germany?, which also funds children’s cancer hospices? Low tax trumps pretty much every thing in our country
Was it really so bad for the Torey mo’s to be self made millionaires and Labor funded by unions? It produced a lot of independent minded mp”s, not the group think robots of today. Give me Hesseltine over KenDick any day.The money saved by getting rid of foreign and domestic interference in elections by private interests , could be worth the extra costs.
It wasn't so long ago that MPs were privately funded , that led to massive corruption.

Nothing to do with Labour government.
Here are the facts: it’s local authorities deciding to delay elections because of reorganisation, if they were held this year, they would then need to be held next year too…….costing tax payers money

Thanks John for the tip offI find that surprising
He is the man who donated £9million to Reform.
and, before that, £10million to the Brexit Party.
And also to the Conservative party.
And £1 million to the office of Boris Johnson Ltd.
By chance, Boris Johnson awarded Qinetiq, a company in which Harborne was the largest single shareholder, a £80m Ministry of Defence contract in January 2023
Harborne goes by the name of Chakrit Sakunkrit in Thailand. I believe he hold dual British and Thai nationality.

...Harborne had made a critical promise to Farage: he would cover the Brexit party’s 2019 general election costs, according to messages between the Thai-based businessman and an associate seen by the Financial Times.
He ended up donating a total of £10mn to the Brexit party before and after the 2019 poll, money that allowed Farage to apply intense pressure on Westminster to withdraw fully from the EU.
Half a decade later, Harborne has filled Farage’s coffers again with a record £9mn donation that gives Reform a big war chest ahead of pivotal elections in May in Scotland, Wales and across English local councils...."

In other news, I hear Thames Water are on a cliff edge.

But they will. You should be pleased Reform can’t win more councils,,.,they are Royally fekking up the ones they control.
Reform claimed they would make saving and cut council tax….well nobody’s gonna fall for that bulls hit again
"might"Farage might be taking legal action over this. He should also sue over the antisemitism slurs.
it would be a little bizarre if they didn't tender and win MOD contracts
