no, jabos ladder is an effect you get.
imagine this.
2 kniting needles shoved in a cork at one end
the needles are at a slight angle in relation to each other in that they get further apart the further you get from the cork
you then connect a very high voltage to them at the cork end.
it then arcs at the bottom, this arc then rises up the needles untill it gets to the top where its too great a distance to arc.
it then starts again.
it was an effect used in old frakenstein type movies as a background gadget

You learn something every day.........I always thought of this, when some one said a jacobs ladder.
