Hi all,

Have ceramic tiles over concrete on the ground floor of my house. Would like to lay some laminate flooring over one part of the floor and carpet the rest (splitting the lounge and dining area).

Could anyone advise whether I should lay straight over the tiles or whether I should remove them? And based on your recommendation, which type of underlay should I be using (for both the laminate and the carpet)?

I should mention that some of the tiles are either cracked or loose - what should I do with these (in order to secure them) should I opt to laminate/carpet over?

Appreciate any comments.

Tony

duralay timbermate for the ceramics and either 650 or system10 for the carpet. If you dont lift the tiles! You will need to re-bond the tiles before laying either floor. It might be best to uplift the lot tho if they are coming loose in areas. Then only use timbermate underlay if it is a concrete base and you might be better off with, lets say cloud 9 underlay for the carpet if you want something softer under foot.
