Hi All,

I have just been given some spare laminate flooring from a friend who ordered too much. There are 7 boards per pack

The room is 7ft 8 inches (wide) and 9ft (long)

The size of the boards in the box is: 1.37 m2 with each of the 7 planks (1092 mm)

Can someone advise how many boxes I need ?

I would be grateful for any help or guidance

buy more than enough, return unused within whatever limit they set.(or shove it up the loft as spare)
don't be tempted to under order, and hope to collect more by dropping in.
sod's law says they will be out of stock, and the batch colour will vary.

There are 12 inches in a foot and one inch = 25.4 mm.

So 7 feet 8 inches = 7x12 + 8 = 92 inches = 92x25.4 = 2336.8 mm = 2.3368 m
And 9 feet = 9x12 = 108 inches = 108x25.4 = 2743.2 mm = 2.7432 m

Round to 2.34 by 2.74 m.

Area = 2.34 x 2.74 = 6.4116 m^2

Round to 6.41 m^2

Pack covers 1.37 m^2

So number of packs = 6.41 / 1.37 = 4.67 packs.

Round up to 5 packs. You'll have 5 - 4.67 = 0.33 of a pack left over - i.e. 2 planks.

2 planks is probably not enough to allow for edges, so you'll need 6 packs. Just like dazlight said.

(I did that without a calculator! Just to keep my brain warm on this cold evening....)
