As part of a fairly major house renovation, we are going to put down a new floor on the ground floor of the house which will cover the main entrance hall, kitchen and dining areas. Given the abuse this will suffer from little children, push chairs (and probably my boots) are we better going for a Laminate such as (http://www.screwfix.com/prods/48354...-Floor/White-Oak-Commercial-Laminate-Flooring) with an eye to replacing it after 5 years but not being too precious if it get scratched up, or a veneer floor (such as http://www.screwfix.com/prods/24052...k-3-Strip-207mm-Wide-Engineered-Wood-Flooring) which we can re finish in the future but will probably show more scratches more quickly?

I guess my basic question is which do people think will be harder wearing?

Cheers,

TC.

laminate is alot more hard wearing but i would not get it from screwfix your local shop will sell it alot cheaper and depending on your budget get the best you can afford personally I think that the quick step range is the biggest and best

Thanks GH, having looked at some samples I think we are going to go for Laminate, although wood will look better when its first laid I can see my daughter doing a lot less damage to Laminate.

Cheers,

TC.
