I'm sorry if I'm covering (covering, get it!) ahem, old ground here, but, I am currently laying a laminate tile effect wooden floor throughout my dining area, kitchen and conservatory, all in one continious hit.

The problem is, I don't know what to do about the end of kitchen work-surface end panel and obviously, this is fixed to the floor.

Should I be cutting this end panel, and sliding the wooden tile board under this? This would be the neater option, but is this recommended or adviseable?

AND, if I do cut it, should I cut the top or the bottom, and whats the best tool to use? Power cirulcar saw, jig saw or hand saw?

Thanks!

Alternative:
Lay the floor towards the end panel and leave an expansion gap of 5 to 10mm. Install a flat beading or scotia over the gap (in any appropriate colour/design) to cover the gap.
Saves you the trouble of cutting any 'supporting' structure.

Thanks, but I really didn't want to have any beading there. The layout of the room pretty much means that the end panel is in the middle of the room and always in view (if you get my meaning) so I wanted a 'cleaner' look as possible...

The end panel isn't so much a 'supporting' panel, as I put a batten on the underside of the work surface so there's no danger of the worksurface or tiles slipping etc...

I guess I just need to know if it's OK to cut this (and where) ...
