Laminatin kitchen floor

I am looking to laminate the kitchen floor, at present the room is empty IE a shell. Can the flooring be done first then put the kithen units on top ?

I am unsure as it is known as a floating floor, I have asked a few peoplw all have been unsure and 50/50 decision (guess)

Put the laminated floor just pass the base unit plinth then use plywood to the same thickness of the laminated for the base unit area to rest on. This will stop any tent reaction being push down by the weight of the base unit and also in the future it's easier to remove the laminated flooring if needed.
