Large Gap Between Extensions

We purchased a house a couple of years ago with two extensions. One on the side and a kitchen extension extending out the back.

Don’t know why it’s took me so long to notice but on inspecting the downpipe from the kitchen extension I noticed it’s covering a large gap between the two extensions and held in place with silicon sealant.

I guess this is not really a recognised technique for ceiling in the gap!

Any ideas what I need to do to rectify this - or should I leave it well alone?

Hopefully the pictures give you an idea

Can't see a problem but you should remove all the old silicone (NB: not silicon) sealant before reinstating, as it seems silicone sealant sticks to everything except itself. Or you could use a non-silicone sealant, though I think you would still have to clean up first.
