My house is a strange mixture of construction techniques - it was built in the early 1930s using materials and labour from England and France. This means that in some areas I have an early for me of plasterboard on the walls and ceiling and in others it's lathe and plaster.
Every doorway in my house has lathe and plaster above it but the walls to either side are block or brick depending on the room. Where the lathe and plaster join the block and brick keeps cracking open. I didn't realise this until after I'd decorated most of the rooms.
I haven't decorated the halls or the landing, is there anything I could do from the other side to strengthen it or will knocking through just cause it all to come off?
