Lawnmower oil

I have a 1 year old hyundai 4 stroke lawnmower that uses an sae 30 engine oil.
I keep a high quality vw 5w 30 low ash engine oil in my garage as I use it the family cars.
Is this ok to use in the mower ?

Straight grade oils stay in viscosity better than multigrades in air cooled engines, which have a wide variety of operating temperatures.
I use a semi synthetic 10/40 but at the end of the day, your oil will be just fine so long as you check the level often, just in case its getting burnt off.

Thanks, I have some 10/40 semi lying around so maybe that would be better.
