Hi all.
I am attempting to extend my patio in the garden and began digging down in preparation for laying the hardcore and then mortar.
However, once I got about six inches down, I hit what already looks like compacted hardcore (see attached picture).
Given that we’re a new build house built on an old industrial estate, I’m confident it’s pretty solid underneath.
What shall I do from here - lay new hardcore on top of the existing sub-base? If so, will I still need a wacker to compact it, given it’s not sitting on top of soil?
