Laying bark

I have just dug out a bunch of bushes and put up a small dividing fence in my harden to seperate the dig up area from the lawn. I would like to cover the dig up area with bark, but it is on a slope, almost 45 degrees. Would this be possible or would all the bark just slide to the bottom?
