Hi,

Does anyone out there have experience of laying carpet over acoustic products please ?

I have used a product made of two layers of shiny acoustic rubber, between which is a layer of acoustic foam. This has been laid on an upstairs wooden floor and the spec states that carpet can be laid with or without underlay.

Carpet was laid, at the carpetfitters suggestion, without underlay and about 4 weeks later, lines started to show where the joins in the acoustic product were situated. Worse still, a few weeks later rucks appeared not on joins.
The area where the carpet had been laid on ordinary underlay because there was no acoustic layer is perfect.

The manufacturer is going to replace, this time with underlay, but I am receiving different advice about how it should be laid. Some say to use adhesive between the acoustic product and the underlay all over, some say to do so on the perimeter and some say not to use adhesive at all.

So please, if you have experience of this sort of scenario, any advice
would be gratefully received.

Many thanks
