I need to Tarmac a small area (2 square metres)

Is this a DIY job or is it specialist stuff?

Thanks

you can buy bags of cold applied tarmac from builders merchants, but try and lay it on a warm day.

lay it heaped so that it remains higher than the finished area by 10-15mm. you then need to pat or thump it down (back of a shovel, thumping iron, compacter plate etc) untill level with the surrounding area.

lay it about 40mm thick.

it sometimes helps to seal the join with a bitumastic sealent.

If I were you Dont use cold stuff its awful an will crack in the frost
ring a local tarmac firm,
an tell them the size ,
ask how much ,
it will be a barrowful of blackstuff ,... maybe £20 :)
will be more if you want them to finish/roll it for you ...Hot/fresh stuff will look a million times better
