I would welcome some advice on laying a solid wooden floor (oak) in a new extension, the floor is concrete with a screed finish. Do I need to do anything other than glue and lay?

Yes, you have to make sure the new concrete/screed is dry enough before you install a wood floor no matter what installation method you plan to use.

Rule of thumb: every inch of concrete/screed takes appr. 30 days to dry.
