I have 3 seperate lights in our bathroom, all fed from the same switch.
I have just replaced a bulb in one of the lights and for some reason it lights up after the other 2. Its only milli seconds but it is noticible.
I replaced the old bulb with one of those long lasting curly types, you know what I mean.
Can anybody explain why this happening, the lady of the house says it is because its furtherest away from the switch.
I'm not convinced!

"long lasting curly" lamps are electronic. They take a second or so to start up. They are similar to the long striplights that some people have in their kitchens and that you see lighting supermarkets, only curled up into a little ball.

Early energy saving lamps took a couple of seconds to ignite and might have flickered like some older striplights, but the newest ones are all instant start, and only take a fraction of a second to start, though they might take a few minutes to come to full brightness.

However, next to 2 ordinary lamps, this fraction of a second will be noticable, and it is what you are seeing.

Many striplights are now "rapid start" too.

Thanks for that crafty, I will now go and educate the lady of the house.
