My LBR 600 Dishwasher is going into alarm after 2 minutes running.With the alarm being a start light flashing continuously, pre rinse light on and alarm beep

Whirlpool machine. If flashing light has no pattern to it and is just continuous then it's error code F1, NTC failure.
Thanks Sleepy headBefore the machine started to go into alarm it was noticed on many occasion that once the cycle was completed all contents where still wet.
Poured hot water into bowl and tricked the NTC - but unit running and not generating heat.
Would this be the heating elemant

No heat, either the NTC, heater or pcb faulty.
As you're getting the NTC fault code I'd go with that first.
Parts aren't cheap for these machines, please bear in mind that the fault codes are only a guide to the fault. You could spend a lot of money throwing parts at the machine, more than it would cost to have someone come in and diagnose / repair the fault.
