Hi all. I have an LDV pilot , P reg, 1.9 diesel. It works fine but has been struggling to start first thing on cold mornings. I don't know much about diesel engines but would like to sort it before I knacker the battery.
any help appreciated . Thanks

I imagine this engine has preheating glowplugs.
Disconnect the electric supply to them individually, then test the resistance of each one with a multimeter. Expect to see a value of one or two ohms if the plugs are ok. A timer keeps the glow plugs on for a few seconds.
This engine will have a good few miles on by now, and it could be worth having a compression check done.
John :)

Thanks very much for the replies fellas. I'll get on the case tomorrow.
Cheers.
