I have some lead that I need to replace due to it being damaged. It is very similar to this picture

except that its straight and not on a fancy building like that. From what I see the lead with the upturn is joined by folding (am I right in it being a welt?) It also has a piece of lead in the folded part which is screwed down. Question is ...... how do I fold the lead and make the upturn bit? From the old bit is seems to be 2 inch folded over 1 inch and folded again. do I fold this on a flat sheet and then bend an upturn and slide it place, how would I the get the other bit of lead in(the bit that is screwed down). I could leave it out but I like to do a proper job and the puzzle has become an obsession!
Thanks

This may help.

The clips should be copper or stainless steel not lead.

It is a specialist job to make it look nice.

Thanks for the link.

I appreciate that a pro would give a better finish but being as I don't (can't) work full time then doing it my self is the best I can do.

I can get a reasonable finish with the flat welt but how do I turn the lead up against the wall whilst a clip is in the welt.
