Leak on pushfit waste

I had a small leak on a pushfit waste fittings. That was slightly not all the way home. Pushing in all the way cured it. Is this usual or is there likely to be something wrong with the o-ring?

Bin it and swap it for solvent or good quality compression. Push fit waste is, in the main, an accident waiting to happen IMO.
