Well last years bathroom project is coming along quite well now, hell we might even have a working loo and basin by the weekend.

The bath mixer tap gasket appears to be leaking though, it only happens when lots of water is splashed around the taps. I've tried re-seating the tap but i think it's just moved the leak around. The bath is quite cheap and I think it has flexed around the tap and destroyed the seal.

Should I just put some silicon sealant on the joint and if so, between the tap and the top of the bath or underneath between the tap nut sand the bath?

Also how tight should these plastic nuts be? I’ve used a tap wrench on them.

Thanks.

Get a set of these http://www.buyplumbing.co.uk/VEM-FT3437

Get the right size depending on whether a steel or acrylic bath.

They are pricy but do the job - guaranteed no leaks.

Also use brass backnuts.

Just checked that sites prices for rad valves - 3 times the price I pay for top quality Aquarius valves
