Mos plug hole/waste fittings are held together with a central screw. Sometimes these break if the joint is stressed, for example by poorly aligned waste pipes.

The simplest solution is to buy and fit a new bath waste outlet (only a few ££). Can't promise that there won't be other complications (in fact quite likely) in which case you might need a professional.

  it will all end in tears wouldnt trust the work as described not if you want to sleep at night :!: undo it again and put silicone sealant on both the underside and the bath side of the waste,re- tighten the screw (carefully its easy to break cheap wastes) then wipe away excess sealant from the bath side . Leave to set and if your lucky........... if not buy a decent waste not B*q w**k*s etc but from a plumbers merchant and repeat the process[/quote]

Before you put the sealant down, make sure the joints are dry. Really dry. Otherwise it won't work. The sealant needs a good amount of time to dry before it can take water. 24h should cover any situation.

If all that fails, buy some (plumbers mate) which is like a putty, scoop some out of the tub and roll it like a sasuage and apply it to the underside of the plug hole, then tighten it and remove the access. guaranteed to work.
