Leaking Gland Nut question

All Valves seem to be 15mm I assume thats standard would that be applicable even on my OLD rad's LOL
I believe the rads are old, and to ensure i get the valves that fit correctly, if i were to drain the system take one off and get down to screwfix/b&q etc are valves a standard size?? Would hate for them to tell me 'oh its the old sizing' we dont stock that will have to order it in etc. Is this a possibilty or are they all pretty much standard no matter how old they are?

Well all sucesfully fixed, thanks alot, no water came out at all when I took the nut off which surprised me. However I have just posted another question thinking about replacing the valves so I can control the temperature in the individual rooms as 4 of the radiators have no control 'knob' and at.
