My Ariston Contract Indirect STI 150 heater has developed probs leaking from the pipe work at the tundish and and at the elbow whre it connects to the cylinder. I live in a 4th floor flat but can't get an emergency engineer until tomorrow. Is there anything I could do rather can contain the drips with small containers

is the leaking coming from compression fittings, soldered fittings or holes in the pipe work ?

if the pressures not dropping on your boiler then the leaks are both on the hw waterside of the cylinder. Does the cylinder still have the red stickers indicating which pipe is which? if so you could turn off the stop cock on the cold water inlet side. This should be the same pipe that has the expansion vessel attached to it,
then run your hot water tap to drain the cylinder until the engineer arrives tomorrow.
if thats difficult to understand as a quick fix you could also turn off the cold water mains until its checked (depends how fussed you are on the size of the leak)

It seems it's running down pipework from plastic tundish but there's an elbow joint where it drips into container.about 300mm below tundish. The other leak near the cylinder seems to be contained or very little at soldered elbow. I had probs with no heating last xmas and this heating engineer came and fixed, charged me £300 and i've had probs ever since

you'll need to leave it to the pro, just try and pick better this time i guess

Thanks Morris and Ray. Ray there is a red lever just above the expansion cylinder and a blue lever to the right going to the boiler with a branch also going to the pipe just above expansion tank .Which one should i turn off ?
