My god son has just moved into a new flat and when it rains heavily, rain water leaks through the wall and exits through a door frame. He went up onto the roof and there seems to be a lot of crumbling stone work around the chimney area where it meets the flat roof.
Is there anything he can do cheaply to fix it until his landlord finally sorts out a permanent solution?

Ok, good idea, I'll ask him to. Would be great if I could help him get it sorted.

It really could be anything and it is not really worth tackling unless it is really obvious and a 5 minute job

It is a landlords responsibility and so would the costs/compensation for redecoration

Three days would be a normal time to respond, failing which the tenant could state that he will instruct his own contractor and charge this back to the landlord

Roof covering material as well as roofing fasteners in many cases are pulled up due to heavy gusts of wind; over period, the securer will totally come lose in the under-lying roof covering material. Water then could possibly get up beneath the roofing and result in a roof drip. This problem must be repaired quickly to prevent mold, mold, as nicely as, staining and harm to the inside your home.
