Leaky Flang

I have installed a compression flange in the top of my hot water tank, the only problem is that there is a slight leak!! it looks like I need a bigger seal/washer on there and I was wandering what type of material the washer should be made from as the cylinder will get quite hot??

Could try a fibre washer, give it a short soaking before installing and a better seal will be achieved.

Fernox LS-X (or similar silicone sealant designed for the purpose) is good, on washers, for things like that.
