Guys,
Does anyone know of a dimmer switch which:

*Will fit a 16mm box
*Is LED compatible

I've had look and most either don't say, or say 25mm...but I'm convinced there is one out there!!

Thanks

Get a deeper back box? I had to do this 3 times in my house to fit dimmers and it's not that hard. Alternative is surface mounted pattress boxes which are ugly.

You've got no chance. You can get 14mm spacers which will space the new dimmer off the wall but you can just fit a switch in a 16mm box, I haven't seen a dimmer module anywhere near slim enough to fit in anything less than a 25mm box - and that can sometimes be tight

Based on the walls in my house, that would seem quite a chore, the last time I had to do that it took about half a day with a coal chisel, followed by some filling... Plus everything else in the room is decorated!

The varilight confuses me, they say 25mm min, but this review: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B0...dge+dimmer&dpPl=1&dpID=21fAMv4pIkL&ref=plSrch

Suggests 16mmm is possible. Job done! Or perhaps not..

One of the 3 I did was in a tiled kitchen wall - took under an hour without damaging the tiles at all.

All you gotta do is drill loads of holes to the required depth (if it's a brick/block wall) then chisel what's left.

Making sure you don't damage the switch lines of course.

Hmm, that's similar to what I I'd before, but the results were a bit hit and miss! Plus, if someone else sees me doing this in the nearly done nursery, the baby might come sooner than we're banking on!

Think I'm rolling with the fit a Spacer option. 10mm, quite cheap and quick. If it looks cack then the other options come into play.

Thinking varilight v-pro.

Well that's good, I bagged one plus Spacer on eBay about a hour ago! (from a varlight gold supplier, not some random geezer)

Just to say, the varlight worked a treat, would look better without the spacer but I knew that, does the job just fine!
