I am replacing incandescent downlighters with LED downlighters. There are six in total.

When I removed the current down lighters I noticed they were wired up such that there was a live and a neutral going from the dowlighter to a terminal block. Into the terminal block from the other side there are two live, two neutral and a ground. (No ground going from the terminal block to the current down lighter).

I am installing 240v GU10 LED dowlighters and the instructions state I can't wire them direct into a loop. I have two questions.
1. Can I wire them as the current down lighters are wired I.E. A live and a neutral coming from the terminal block?
2. Do I have to ensure the new down lighter has a ground running to it?

Thanks in anticipation.

The junction box, will be providing the switch function. Ideally this junction box should be accessible for inspection, test and maintenance, when work is completed. Or the termination of the conductors manufactured/installed in a way that deems them maintenance free.

With regards to earthing the fittings, the manufacture's instruction would direct you on that.

As an electrician I supply an earth to all accessories, the wiring regs does recommend this.
