I want to set up some lighting using LEDs, as the space to get the lighting wires and lights through is far too small for a normal bulb. Obviously I need much lower power supplies, but I have no idea how to set any of this up.

I'm expecting to use about 9 5mm wide LEDs with 5V 30mA rating.

Does anyone have experience of using LEDs for household lighting?

Are there any good online sources for information on using LEDs?

I have only used LED's outside (both floods and spots).
Not sure that they would give you a good enough light for anything other than accent lighting.
The ones i have fitted were made by collingwood, they are wired in series and use a 350mA driver.
As for fittings to suit your purpose i'm afraid i can't help much, just have to do a bit of an internet search.

Hello,

I have once fitted LED lighting into a domestic staircase, although I thought it would look a bit 'tacky' , it turned out to look alright.

The customer got them from screwfix, they came complete with transformers, leads etc in packs of six. so looking on thier website might be of some help, as I know they have a few different sorts.
Hope this is of some help.

what is it to actualy light?

as mentioned screfix do a set, they look nice on stairs, but for a whole room, no, too dim, unless you want to use 1w white leds, and make your own cct up
