Hello All,

No light coming out, even at night / when covering panel.

Swapping to charged ni-mh battery gives light, but this is constant i.e. does not go out.

I'm guessing that the "night" sensor (where it is; i can't see one) is defective, and is telling the circuit that it is constant night, which therefore drains the battery until nothing left.

Is there anything to do, other than bin them and replace?

Thanks in anticipation.

There isn't one - the solar panel is used for that as well as charging.
As yours doesn't charge and lights in the daytime, the solar panel (or the connections to it) has failed.
