From this forum, I discovered LEDs on a strip, and have bought a 24W 5m strip with a power source to go with it. I bought it for plinth lighting (but it's bright enough to replace my under-cupboard flourescent strips too).

Can anyone suggest an appropriate method of using these with a wall switch, rather than taking up a socket permanently, and switching on and off at the plug each time? I have a hidden socket nearby in a cupboard that could hide the power pack, but what about the switch?

The power pack is an all-in-one three pin plug and 12v transformer type.

Thanks

CG

EDIT: Soon as I posted, I was offered this as a similar post:

LED STRIP LIGHTS USING LIGHT SWITCH

and have read it. Anything else I should consider?

Socket circuit -> FCU -> switch -> socket for power supply.

You could use the FCU as the switch if you're happy to see it on the wall.

In that case do as posted by BAS
Socket circuit -> FCU -> switch -> socket for power supply.

Or, you could site the FCU at a suitable location, then the FCU is the switch

Or, you could put a 3A fuse in a plug that goes into your secret socket
and connect as follows

Plug(3A) > separate light switch > socket that you plug your wall-wart into.
