Was in Leeds at the weekend. While having breakfast at the hotel, clocked three Lexus IS300 UBER or taxis
Almost every hire vehicle was a Toyota.

Is there a reason for this I wonder

I don't know, sorry, but Leeds is a great place isn't it? Many good times have I had there.

It's strange, there do seem to be local variations.
When I was young, our nearest city was Plymouth, I clearly remember the ranks of Austin FX4 (London taxis).
Later, I spent some time in Cardiff and every taxi was a Vauxhall Carlton.
Even after they had long ceased to be manufactured, I believe every Carlton ended its life as a Cardiff mini cab!

Carlton/Opel Rekords are quality. Never had the newer shape as in your pic, but several of old shape. Sold my last one last year. Viceroy, Royale, Carlton, Senator all top quality and better than big saloons offered by Ford.

A Toyota Pious Uber I was in recently had done 350k miles. Original battery. "Ashtrays not full yet isn't it?" Ha ha.

The transmission is the saviour on these cars....few vehicles can go so far with auto boxes, local operators tell me.
Quarter of a million miles! Has to get my vote.
John :)
