i,

Sorry this may have been covered - but not seen this specific question (and I'm not a massive DIYer so a lot of this quite confusing!).

I have a problem with a leak in my cellar - it was an old 1/2 inch tap that was leaking - I removed the tap and replaced it with a new one, but now the join where the tap meets the pipe is seeping / dripping. I have used some PTFE tape which seems to help but not solve. I think I need a decent washer (as the one I got was a cheap one from and seems to actually squeeze out between the joint when tightened) but may need to up the ante and get some putty or such like to seal the joint?

Three q's -

1. Are there any specific washers recommended for this kind of joint?
2. Would putty work / any recommendations?
3. Anyone spot anything obvious I am / am not doing that might help?

Thanks!!
