Hello,

Just fitted a number of Legge rim latches to some internal doors.

Before putting the back nut which is brass onto the rear side of the

door, the latch operates correctly when turned and flicks back.

When the brass locking nut is screwed onto the rear side of the

door along with the rear side brass handle the latch becomes

stiff and does not operate correctly by flicking back as it should.

would greasing the spindle solve this problem.

any ideas?

Sounds like you have not got the spindles perfectly aligned and concentric with the lock. If you screw the roses for the knobs inaccurately this will cause it.

Slacken off the roses and see if that takes away the problem. If so, re-fit them better.

slacked off the backin nut and loosened the rear knob slightly.

Thats sorted it.

Thanks for the info john.

When this happens, the alignment is wrong, need to adjust again and tighten the screw gently in rotation until they are all tight, eg: don't tighten one screw first
