Hello,

I'm struggling a bit here.

I have a knackered out concrete floor and want to lay a nice thick layer of concrete on top of it as a new floor.

The area however is 7 by 7m and there is no way, even in a dream I'll stand a chance of getting it level (and not even too sure about how to tackle it due to it's size - but that's a different story).

Does anyone know of a self levelling admix I can use ?
Or is it just a case of trying my best and then level compounding it ?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Windy

lay a rough tamped floor slab, say 75mm lower than it needs to be, then later on, lay a nice level floor screed on top.

whatever you do dont lay the whole slab with a mixer lorry , without reinforcing the substrate , it will crack ,lol
best job is do as nosey say an lay the substrate , BUT in sections of 2mx3m ,at a time ,with wood form/boxes with mixer an bulk ballast /cement ;)
then do a screed mix on top
hope this helps ;)

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.

I only want to bring the floor up about 75mm so should I just be thinking about screeding with some mesh ?

The floor that's there isn't all that bad, just cracked a little and rather uneven.

a floor screed mixed using sharp sand and cement, will be more than adequate for the job.
